Fable is like one of my all-time favorite game trilogies.
I’ve been on a Fable kick for like a month and a half now. I’ve got an original Fable the Lost chapters for the Xbox (original xbox) Special editions of 2 and 3 for the Xbox 360, but I’ll never play the Journey because
A) it sucked in all ways when I tried to play it at a friends house.
B) I just hate it.
So like the remake of the Wickerman, and Godfather part III I pretend it doesn’t exist.
Fable is definitely a great series. Fable/TLC just set a perfect stage for a fantastical world, and had a great villain. Eldritch abomination who just wants to burn everything, perfect villain. The sort of being that can’t be reasoned with, merely killed else allowed to continue with their destructive plot.
Fable 2 expanded on it, fast-forwarding 500 years into the future, and it was really cool to see what Albion had become in such a long period of time. Once again, it had an excellent villain. Lucien was just a man who lost his family, who was driven to create a new world in which that couldn’t happen, whatever the cost. He was an entirely human enemy, and that made him just as much of an incredible villain as Jack, in my opinion, even with his anti-climactic death.
Fable III… Eh. It erased nearly every location you know, with just a few remaining that are easily identifiable. The villain was crap, in my opinion. The Crawler was an all-consuming darkness, that could somehow be beaten by killing the host that a small part of it had inhabited. Just… meh.
I can’t really comment on the Journey, as I’ve never touched that, but Anniversary is pretty much an HD re-release of TLC, and it’s also got some new stuff available as DLC, and they’re looking into adding Workshop support for the PC version, though I don’t know how feasible that’s going to be.
